The last week of term!

This coming week is the last week of term for my school. Earlier than most schools, because four of our five teacher training days are "commuted" into extended after school sessions spread through the year.

This weekend has therefore been a baking weekend. A lovely smell in the kitchen at the moment. Two rounds of baking, one to take to school and one to have at home, and share with the Word of Life meeting on Wednesday.

I have looked at the link and spotted the saturated fat and sugar... I hope there'll be a slice leftover though....

As an experienced Union Rep, Joe, you wuill recall that pupils aren't sent home on 'Baker Days': the teachers are brought in. The idea is (was?) for teachers to be trained.

I resent it when SLT offer routine admin jobs on these days... and staff seem pleased!

Mind you, the quality of much INSET leaves a lot to be desired, so I suppose many staff would prefer to come in and do amin than suffer yet another card sort activity.

Francis:

I do have to say that the experience of using twilight sessions has, in my view, meant the time is used more usefully than on whole day INSETs.

I do agree - whether twilights or whole days - these sessions should not be used for administrative tasks!

Yes, well-prepared twilights with a sharp focus are a good alternative to an entire INSET day.

At first read (late at night), Francis, I thought you were referring to hair care ...

Did my last message get through? In case not:

Alas those days- as the hair- have gone.
