Where I have been during my blog break

Keep driving until you have got as far West in Wales as you think it is possible to get - and then go a bit further. You will go past such scenic places as Milford Haven (oil refinery) and reach Dale, on the Pembrokeshire Coast. Dale Airfield, that you can see on the picture below, was used as a Royal Naval Air Station during the Second World War. Aircraft stationed here were tasked with protecting shipping in the South Western Approaches from German attack. In the area just to the left of the "St Ann's Head" label in the photograph is Kete. This has now been returned to farm land, but during the Second World War was a station that trained radar operators and fighter controllers. I suspect it may also have had an operational role, in combination with the aircraft flying from Dale Airfield.

This second photograph was taken from the cliff top at the edge of Dale Airfield, looking south towards St Ann's Head. The sun was beginning to set in the West, to the right as you look at this photograph.

This picture below is Little Haven, on the Pembrokeshire Coast. Before spending the afternoon on the beach here, we walked along the cliff top shown in the bottom left hand corner of this photo.

The "advance party" of our cliff top walk.

And the "rearguard".
